Virginia Teehan died on January 9, 2005. She was a wife, mother, and homemaker who lived most of her life in Boston. She was the daughter of a faithful Italian family who married a Boston Irishman. Her story is typical of many Catholic Americans of our day. For twenty years she contributed poems to the New England Catholic News published by Pat Romano, a former broadcast journalist who for many years has defended the traditions of the Catholic Faith in a diocese where that does not seem to mean much any more to those in power.
Her verse is succinct, crisp, and direct. Her expressions of love for the Christ, his Blessed Mother, and the Church are orthodox and unwavering. These poems evince an outlook that is at once powerful in its expression, realistic in its assessment of the times, and full of supernatural hope for the future. This limited edition was published by her daughter, Mary Bennett, in honor of her mother.
