By Brian Kranick  - PB 328 pages

We are indebted to Brian Kranick for this illuminating exposition of the Book of Exodus. One who reads this book will have a much clearer understanding of the four Gospels because Exodus, along with the prophecy of Isaias, is the best and clearest revelation in the Old Testament of the Savior to come and his mission.

Third place winner of the 2021 Catholic Media Award.

The typology that the Fathers and Doctors of the Church have spoken of is here collected and examined and presented for our edification. One glance at the table of contents will be enough to convince you that this book is crucial for understanding the Gospels and the history of God’s people both in the Old and New Testaments.

He specifically reminds us of the fact that God himself designed all of the liturgical seasons and feasts and that he also gave explicit directions for every minute rubric and prayer of all of the liturgical rites, sacrifices, and architecture. Our Lord and his apostles carried on these rituals in the new and eternal sacrifice, not only the one on Calvary, but also in the continuing sacrifice of the Mass as given to us by Our Lord himself. That ritual had for almost 2000 years been called the Roman Rite.

After reading this book you will re-read the Gospels, especially the descriptions of the Passion, with new “eyes to see.” But if the Gospels are newly enlivened for you, just wait until you assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in the Roman Rite once again. It becomes a deeper and more contemplative experience because now, the Book of Exodus, through this work will have been opened to you, and the phrase from Luke 24:32; “Were not our hearts burning [within us] while he spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to us?” shall amaze you with its immanent relevance to each of us in today’s increasingly perfidious, and therefore confusing, world.

Exodus is a complex part of the Bible but Brian Kranick manages to deliver a thought provoking mental picture he acutely shares with the reader like no other book on the Bible I’ve read . If only Charleston Heston could do the audio book
Brian's treatment of biblical typology is both helpful and inspirational. I highly recommend this book! Whether or not you are a believer in Jesus Christ, this book will help you see the connection between the Old (Hebrew Scriptures) and the New Testament. The reader will soon understand the adage: "The New (Testament) is hidden in the Old, and the Old (Testament) is revealed in the New." Read it with an open mind and heart and prepare to be amazed by God's providence.
I am not a theological scholar, just a lay Catholic interested in deepening my faith. This book was extremely insightful in helping me understand the connections between the Old Testament to the New Testament. The thesis of the book is that the coming of Christ was foretold not just with written prophecies but also with symbology.

The author goes into specific detail of typologies found throughout Exodus, and how these foreshadowed Christ and the Sacraments that we experience in the Church. There are so many moments in the Old Testament that are connected to my daily life as a Catholic that I had not considered previously (ie, The Red Heifer!).

It drew me deeper into the faith and offered a greater understanding of the Jewish roots of the Catholic Church. It has material I wish I had learned years ago, and helped rekindle the fire of faith in my heart. I highly recommend it!
This book is amazing! Imaging Russian nesting dolls… the ones that open and reveal the next smaller size inside.
This book revealed, new depth and truth about the book of Exodus in light of the time period and in preparation of the New Testament. Each chapter wan an unveiling of the next doll- scripture unpacked to reveal a more intimate and connected truth. I could probably read it 3 times and still
Learn more. In fact, I would like, (and buy) a Bible study of Mr. Kranick ever decided to create one.
This is a very informative and easy to understand book. Burning Bush, Burning Hearts has helped me to grasp and understand the scriptures in a new light. Very fascinating how many typologies there are in the Old and New Testaments that I never realized. If you are looking to learn more about the Bible, I highly recommend this book.
Excellent and informative tying together of the Old and New Testament.
