In this book, veteran Catholic journalist Gary Potter goes after the truth concerning one of last century’s principal religious controversies, the so-called Boston Heresy Case, and its chief figure, Rev. Leonard Feeney, S.J.
The most famous Jesuit of his day, Fr. Feeney broadcast on the radio, his books were best sellers, his poetry was mandatory reading in parochial schools. Suddenly, newspapers throughout the country were reporting that he was charged with heresy, expelled from the ranks of the Jesuits, and even “excommunicated.” Now his verse was removed from textbooks and Catholics were forbidden by high Church authorities to have any association with him. Gary Potter is a native of California. After attending public schools, a professional theater academy, and college, he spent two years sailing in the Merchant Marine and another four living in France, where he discovered the Faith. Following baptism into the Church and time working in advertising in New York, he began his career in Catholic journalism in 1966 as a founding editor of the legendary Triumph magazine. Besides Triumph and two publications of which he later was editor, Truth & Justice and CCPA News & Views (the publication of Catholics for Christian Political Action), articles by him have appeared in National Review, Human Events, the New York Times, the Washington Post, The National Catholic Register, Faith & Reason, The Wanderer, The Remnant, The Angelus, From the Housetops, and numerous other publications. Mr. Potter lives with his wife, Virginia, in Washington, D.C.

Saint John Eudes wrote many books and is best known today as the
Apostle of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
In fact, he composed the masses for those feast days. One of his most
eloquent and powerful works is this treatise on baptism originally entitled,
Le contrat de l’homme avec Dieu par le Saint Baptême.
This translation was done in 1859 by Rev. J. M. Cullen and published
in Philadelphia. Over 30,000 copies were quickly sold here in the USA.
Other than spelling updating and some layout, citations, and punctuation
changes, this 2012 edition is the same as Fr. Cullen’s edition of 1859.
This treatise is one of the clearest and most lucid explanations of the
essential nature of the sacrament ever composed. Due to his Jesuit training
and his great sanctity, this saint is able to make such a clear and orderly
presentation of the effects of this solemn contract between God and his
children that it is hard to imagine anything better ever being written on
the subject.
St. John spent years with the Oratorians (founded by St. Philip Neri),
and he was also the founder of two religious orders and an experienced
missionary and preacher. He knew how to speak clearly and effectively to
both Catholics and non-Catholics. Reading this compelling presentation
of God’s great plan for us, elucidating the contract that we have entered
into by our reception of the sacrament of baptism, and the responsibility
that falls upon both God and ourselves for fulfilling our respective ends of
that contract is a source of tremendous grace to the reader.
Although not intended as a catechism on baptism, it is strongly
recommended that any teenager read it before confirmation and that any
adult convert read it before their entrance into the church, as there is
no better explanation we have ever seen of the practical (not theological)
nature and effect of baptism. Upon reading this book you will come to
a deeper understanding of why there can be no salvation outside of the
Catholic Church and without sacramental baptism.

Father Martindale’s is a truly helpful book on the study of sex psychology. The author shows a profound knowledge of his subject and discusses with much penetation, lucudity, and candor the difficult problem of control of the sexual instinct. It is refreshing to find among so many nauseatingly sentimental books on the subject, one which treats of sex matters with reverence and elevation, being, moreover, enlightening and constructive. Human nature needs intellectual and psychologic help as well as physical and spiritual, and these pages aim at inducing an intelligent understanding of difficulties encountered in the attainment of self control.
This publication first appeared in England and the USA between the World Wars. The language is typically British, but the principles remain the same.
